Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in the United Kingdom, where he is set to accompany the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria for burial.
The VP’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed this early Monday morning, revealing that Shettima was welcomed at the hospital by Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuff Tuggar.
According to presidential sources, the Vice President departed Nigeria for the UK around midnight on Sunday.
His arrival was witnessed by the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila on Monday morning.
Buhari passed on Sunday after being hospitalised in Uk after illness.
Former President, Buhari battled undisclosed ailments for years while serving Nigeria as President for two terms.
His corpse is expected to arrive Nigeria today, for the final burial according to islamic rites.
