Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, has passed away at 91 years old. The respected traditional ruler died on Sunday.
Born on May 10, 1934, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona had been serving as the Awujale of the Ijebu Kingdom, a traditional state in Nigeria, until his death.
Oba Adetona was installed as king on 2 April 1960, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in Nigeria. He was a member of the House of Anikinaiya.
His death came just hours after the announcement of the passing of Former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari was said to died in a clinic in London, United Kingdom, after battling illness for some time.
