The Nigerian Army has relocated its Special Forces Training School from Buni Yadi in Yobe State to Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, in a strategic move aimed at enhancing the training of its elite troops.
Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), made this known during the foundation-laying ceremony and inauguration of new projects at the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma.
Oluyede explained that the relocation was designed to provide a more conducive and secure environment for training, thereby equipping personnel with the advanced skills required for complex operations.

“The decision to relocate the school is aimed at providing a much more ideal environment for the training of our special forces and to equip them with the requisite skills and competencies needed for the peculiar nature of their missions,” he said.
The Army chief stressed that the institution would evolve into a beacon of excellence and professionalism, preparing generations of officers to excel as part of the “elite and unconquerable force” of the Nigerian Army.
Since assuming office, Oluyede noted that one of his priorities has been to ensure Nigerian troops receive training on par with their counterparts globally.
He added that the facility would strengthen the Army’s capacity to respond to today’s dynamic and evolving security threats.
“My visit is not just to lay the foundation for new structures, but to lay the groundwork for a legacy of excellence, bravery and sacrifice.
“We are investing in the future of our special forces and, by extension, the security and prosperity of our nation,” he said.
While commending troops of the Special Forces Command for their service across the country, Oluyede urged them to maintain professionalism, diligence, and resilience in the discharge of their duties.
He assured them of his commitment to prioritising the welfare of both personnel and their families, describing it as key to sustaining morale and performance.
The COAS also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State for their “strategic guidance and unwavering support” in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.
Hilary Nzan, Commander of the 4 Special Forces, lauded the Army chief’s foresight in relocating the school, describing it as a milestone achievement.
He said the facility would boost morale, enhance training, and create an enabling environment for optimal performance in tackling insecurity nationwide.
“The school will enhance training, boost morale and create an enabling working environment for the forces.
“As direct beneficiaries, we have taken ownership and will use it responsibly with dedication to achieve the desired results,” Nzan stated.
